Job description

General position summary

 The general objective of the position will be to ensure the rapid and effective preparation and response of Ayuda en Acción in humanitarian crises, as well as to guarantee the positioning of the organisation in the different humanitarian forum in Spain and at the international level. This person will work in coordination with the Programmes team and the national teams of the countries where the response to humanitarian crises is carried out. 

 

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure a rapid and effective humanitarian response in Ayuda en Acción intervention countries.
  • Leading the design of the Humanitarian Strategy and Emergency Response Protocol for Ayuda en Acción.
  • Coordinate and train the Ayuda en Acción humanitarian response team.
  • Support the design of humanitarian strategies of Ayuda en Acción country programmes in the Americas, Africa and Asia.
  • Ensure the development and application of the Humanitarian-Development Nexus in Ayuda en Acción programmes and participation in international forums regarding Nexus.
  • Represent Ayuda en Acción in national and international forums and media.
  • Act as a focal point for different humanitarian donors such as the United Nations System, ECHO, DFID and AECID, among others.
  • Develop the funding strategy for the humanitarian programme and design new proposals for international and national donors.
  • Monitor ongoing humanitarian interventions and ensure the quality of humanitarian donors reports.
  • Interact with other Ayuda en Acción areas to respond to needs that arise in relation to issues in your area.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of at least 8 years working in the humanitarian sector, of which 3 years in the field managing humanitarian crisis response.
  • Experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of strategic plans and programs.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in the international framework for humanitarian action, including the normative framework for International Humanitarian Law and protection.
  • Knowledge of international humanitarian institutions and their policies and strategies.
  • Experience in the design and management of humanitarian programmes and projects funded by international donors such as the United Nations System, ECHO, DFID and AECID, among others.
  • Knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of disaster risk management and resilience building programmes, as well as global processes.
  • Good knowledge and experience in procedures and security management in humanitarian response environments.

Languages:

  • High level of English and Spanish is essential.
  • Very valuable high level of French.

  • Addition: immediate
  • Location: Madrid, with frequents travels within and outside Europe. In emergency situations immediate availability.
