Job description

Objectives of the Position

The Programme Assistant will ensure timely planning, implementation, and monitoring of activities at the community level in close collaboration with community level actors such as the children, parents, community members, community leaders and other stakeholders.

General Key Task:

The position of Programme Assistant will support all field activities in the sub-counties and provides linkage between Ayuda en Accion and the Sub-County level government authorities, will also be the focal point to report to the programme officer on the child protection concerns, and the general day to day activity implementations in the parishes and sub counties of operation.

Overall day to day Activities

Working closely with the support and supervision of the Programme Officer Sponsorship, this position will liaise with the programme community structures (children, parents, community leaders) in joint protection and Sponsorship activities and other Ayuda en Accion interventions in the area involving planning, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and reporting

 

Specific Responsibilities

Programme Planning and implementation

  • Participate in programme planning for effective delivery of protection and sponsorship activities
  • Develop weekly and monthly plans and ensure they are approved
  • Mobilize community (children, parents/ guardians, and school management) to participate in all activities implemented by Ayuda en Accion in the sub counties of operation.
  • Conduct field monitoring of all the Interventions undertaken by Ayuda en Accion in the targeted sub counties.
  • Compile monthly reports to narrate programme progress, challenges, and way forward.

 

Sponsorship Communications

 

  • Help to generate engagement from the communities, the children, and their families in the sponsorship programme.
  • Timely processing and management of key sponsorship communication materials (semester 1 communication, semester II communications, group photographs, individual photographs, Kobo collect), and other sponsorship correspondences such as sponsor mails etc.) In line with Ayuda en Accion sponsorship standards.
  • Participate in collecting and compilation of information for the development of reports (Quiero contarte, climate paper etc) in the district of operation.

External relations

  • Participate in sub county and other sectoral planning/coordination meetings to represent Ayuda en Accion in the area.
  • Participate in sector meetings with key protection and Livelihood partners at the sub-county and settlement level
  • Participate in community engagement and advocacy meetings with key stakeholders; parents, school management committee, police, health officials and other development agencies in activities implemented within the parish.
  • Closely work with Sub County authorities, and other relevant community structures at village, parish levels to ensure compliance with child wellbeing and safeguarding in all the Ayuda en Accion field activities.

Requirements

Skills, qualification, and experience

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development studies, Social Work and Social Administration, Education/ Early Childhood Development, or any other related fields.
  • At least 1-2 years of progressive experience in Community or Social work, preferably working with Children in an NGO setting. Proven knowledge of child protection and safeguarding policy. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, and meeting deadlines.

Qualities and key skills

  • English (fluent)
  • Good working knowledge of MADI local language and English is an advantage.
  • High skills in office software (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to Ride a Motor- cycle with valid license class A.
  • A certificate of good conduct from Police will be required as evidence of clean criminal record as a requirement for working with children.
