Job description

Objective:

  • To identify donor resources, raising funds and writing proposals for long-term organizational sustainability.

 

Responsibilities:

Business development

  • Identify and track relevant upcoming funding opportunities (private and institutional donors) – through advance intelligence gathering, partner relationships, and other available resources.
  • Conduct prospecting visits to key private or institutional donors to identify and prepare for upcoming funding opportunities.
  • Manage Actions for pre-solicitation proposal preparations and bid planning including: teaming, bid strategy, development of win-themes, oversight of and contribution to technical design, drafting management and other sections of the proposal in advance of the solicitation.
  • Manage major open donors solicitations and other proposal submissions, including teaming agreements, oversight of technical design and cost proposal, PPRs, capacity statements, internal review/quality control processes, drafting sections of the proposal where appropriate.
  • Represent the organization’s business development interests at relevant meetings, events, and within resource mobilization or donor-specific peer networks.
  • Develop a resource mobilization strategy aligned with the country office objectives
  • Assist in the development of fundraising materials, such as case statements, position papers, brochures, and presentations

 

Strategy

  • Participates in the definition of the AeA strategy in the country.
  • Identifies, analyzes and reports on the strategies of key actors present.
  • Advises and promotes the exchange of knowledge and useful information with other AeA offices in the region to facilitate improvements in the quality and efficiency of project management.
  • Update the fundraising strategy of the National Program

 

Project Identification and Formulation

  • Coordinates the monitoring and analysis of the situation of the sectors and areas of the national office.
  • Supports area managers and MEAL unit in the collection of primary and secondary information.
  • Supports, coordinates/leads and/or participates in the design, preparation, organization, and implementation of project identification studies (needs, vulnerability, feasibility, risk, etc.) when required in collaboration with MEAL unit.
  • Draft proposals and prepare all key documents to accompany each proposal as per donor requirements. In collaboration with the Uganda team, prepare high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and funding applications tailored to the requirements of potential donors.

 

Relationships with key stakeholders and partners

  • Networks, coordinates and negotiates with external stakeholders (local governments, UN agencies, national and international NGOs, representatives of beneficiary groups, consultants, etc.).
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies
  • Convenes, organizes and/or participates in meetings with external stakeholders as needed.
  • Identifies and maintains spaces that facilitate the exchange of information and experiences of AeA with other organizations.
  • Prepare all relevant activities related to the positioning and visibility of AeA's interventions in the country.
  • Participates and supervises the elaboration of collaboration agreements

 

Internal Coordination

  • Coordinate funding decisions with the Regional Director and the program management team.

 

 

 

 

Requirements

Knowledge and experience:

  • Professional university studies in the area of Engineering, Social Sciences, international relations or related fields.
    • Management of international cooperation projects with a minimum experience of 5 years.
    • Knowledge of the development and humanitarian context in general and, particularly, in Sub-Saharan African countries, with special emphasis on conflict zones.
    • Experience working on projects in Uganda is an asset
    • Experience in the renewable energy, energy access and climate change sector in the Ugandan context (mandatory).
    • Proven track record of securing funding from various sources, such as grants, donations, or investments.
    • Experience with proposal writing, grant applications, and presentations.
    • Strong understanding of fundraising trends and regulations.
    • Experience managing relationships with donors and sponsors.
    • Understanding of Public-Private Partnership is a plus (PPP).
