Ayuda en Acción is an organization with international presence that, from a global commitment, fights against poverty, inequality and exclusion since its birth in 1981. Our scope of action is developed in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and since 2013 also in Spain, in those territories and populations with greater vulnerability and less access to opportunities to exercise their rights with equality and equity.

 

A non-denominational and non-partisan organization committed to the values that emanate from respect for Human Rights and that believes in the need to generate changes that make social justice possible, going to the causes that generate inequality of opportunities, social exclusion and poverty.

 

Since 2016 Ayuda en Acción implements projects in Mozambique with different funders in the areas of protection of youth and women's rights, generation of economic opportunities, education and humanitarian aid. These projects are financed both with its own funds and with contributions from national and international agencies and are being implemented in the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Maputo. Ayuda en Acción has a team of more than 30 professionals in Mozambique that respond to the areas mentioned above.

 

Purpose of the position:

Ayuda en Acción is interested in hiring a Grant Coordinator - Project Coordinator to carry out the coordination of the technical and financial management of the projects and programs under implementation in the different sectors that make up the Mozambique National Program. The profile we are looking for is a highly motivated, communicative and proactive person, who dominates the economic and technical management cycle of projects and programs funded by various national (Spanish), international and multilateral donors. A solid experience in the management of interdisciplinary teams in multicultural contexts, as well as previous experience in Mozambique and/or in other Sub-Saharan African countries in similar positions will be highly valued.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Supervise the correct technical and financial execution and reporting of all projects under implementation in the Mozambique National Ayuda en Acción Program;
  • Supervise, in coordination with the Financial Coordinator and the Program Director, the work carried out by the technical and financial responsible team assigned to the projects and programs in the monitoring of the interventions;
  • Implement and develop internal monitoring tools for programs and projects according to donor regulations.
  • Coordinate with the MEAL manager in Mozambique the periodic delivery of information on the technical progress of co-financed projects;
  • Lead the development of ToR of agreements and agreements between AeA and collaborating entities;
  • Supervise the realization of all compliance processes related to the start-up and implementation of programs and projects (publication of ToR for contracting services and/or tenders, signing of agreements and agreements with local partners and collaborating entities, procurement plans for equipment and goods, logistics related to the implementation of actions linked to programs and projects);
  • Coordinate and supervise the completion of all justification processes of the interventions under implementation according to the funder's regulations;
  • Supervise the correct systematization and documentary archiving of all projects;
  • Coordinate and supervise all external audit and/or evaluation processes in conjunction with the Financial Coordinator and the Program Director;
  • Carry out, if necessary and in coordination with the Financial Coordinator, internal audit or evaluation processes of the projects, within the framework of the intervention, verifying strict compliance with current regulations of both the funders and Ayuda en Acción;
  • Support the institutional financing team and participate in the preparation of budgets and project proposals under formulation;
  • Verify, know and disseminate project and program management information;
  • Periodic accountability to Country Directors and Heads of Headquarters on the status of projects.

 

Requirements

Management, Planning and Methodologies

  • Ensure the adequate allocation of resources for the efficient fulfillment of the entity's foundational objectives in projects and programs;
  • Officially represent the organization at its level in its relationship with third parties, suppliers/partners and/or official entities;
  • Support the development, review and recommend management policies and procedures of the organization;
  • Develop plans, schedules and budget to ensure proper planning and implementation of programs and projects in coordination with program, finance and support area;
  • Oversee the review of existing financial discrepancies and recommend corrective actions to the finance team (includes oversight of the work performed by the Finance Coordinator);
  • Perform other duties compatible with and necessary for the performance of his/her duties.

 

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration and Management, Political Science, Sociology or similar;
  • At least 5 years of experience in technical and financial management of development cooperation and international humanitarian action projects;
  • Experience with the following funding entities: IOM, UNHCR, EU, AECID, other Spanish decentralized cooperation agencies, etc;
  • Experience and knowledge of the NGO sector in Spain and/or abroad;
  • Essential to have a good command of Word and Excel;
  • Experience in Mozambique or another Sub-Saharan African country is a plus.
